Let's Talk About This
Let's be a fan boy and speak about A$AP ROCKY's new album. It's dope. That's it.
Wanted more? Okay, A$AP came back around with a lyrical prowess that even surprised me. At first, I believed he made simple hooks and basic hits that would be forgotten in a year or two. But he explained he had to prove that he could make hits and he began focusing on his music with this album.
And it shows. (Look below for some lyrics and read along if you're over 18)
If you're looking for a lot of bass and the "fuck hoes, get money" scheme, this album probably isn't for you. A$AP seems to have grown a lot, so it was worth the wait. He speaks about more the than the cliches and I applaud him for that alone.
Most people believe it's impossible to make an album without referencing the commons lines of rap. But in fact it isn't. Don't worry though, A$AP still keeps the bragging of the women passing through his life. Better than that, he name drops numerous times, which a lot of people haven't done in rap in a LONG TIME. He keeps it true, and leaves you wanting more. We give the album a, B. Trust us... It'll get better.
"Ain't nothing better than the pretty big forehead bitch
Listen close I got some shit to tell you, motherfuckers get familliar
It's not just model bitches on my genitalia
Did Azalea's from Australia, trips to Venezuela
Cinderella's under my umbrella for different weather
Ella, ella, ay just play it like I didn't tell ya
Niggas taking pictures any time we get together
And hope to fly away one day just like some love birds"
Only one word I'm afraid of is the "love" word
Let's talk about the last underrated point guard left since sports analysts only want the most juicy headline.
Mike Conley does exactly what he is asked to do and that is playmaking. But he can actually score too. Without him, there would be no playoff contending Memphis Grizzlies team. Everyone claims it is Z-Bo or Gasol, but it's really the one guard.
When the Grizzlies needed a scorer, he came out and scored 30+ points against the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals that ended in a sweep. But let us add that he was the only man scoring consistently as he team fell behind him.
So what's the problem with the Memphis Grizzlies? A slow pacing game that only the Spurs can match is something to speak on. The slow pace would've worked this playoff year, if it wasn't for the Warriors. If they could defeat the Grizzlies 4-2, then maybe they could've beaten the Spurs too.
The Grizzlies built a team to contend against the Spurs after the humiliating defeat in the Western Conference Finals. Where the Grizzlies were exposed the most against the Warriors was indeed their offense. In our opinion, they should be ranked 1st defense overall, having now two players awarded for their defense (Marc Gasol & Tony Allen). Steve Kerr should get the credit of actually defending great defensive players I guess.
Most blamed Jeff Green for balling up, but we don't. That's nonsense. He was defended and couldn't make most of his contested shots. People like Vince Carter, who shot various times open should be shamed. But not Jeff Green. Simply we need a star scorer OR Marc should really focus on his scoring style. Is his style of play not aggressive enough, who knows?
But without Mike Conley, we can give all that up. Number 11. If he was asked to score every night, he would easily put up 25 pts and 6 assists average if they change up the pace. Defense is the Grizzlies secret weapon, maybe they only need it against the supreme teams and worry about scoring. That would bring more attention to the team and Conley and even bring more people to the games. But that's a risk to take during so many successful years.
We've gotten bored and said that Conley would be the most improved player and MVP in the same year if the Grizzlies do this.
It's what the city, Memphis, needs. A championship title or a MVP. Why not invest in Conley or Gasol (that is if he gets more aggressive offensively). That is all!!!
